The world of hack-n/ pronounced (hack in slash) is a world in constant turmoil. Once the world had a perfect peace, the people were living in a utopia of advanced technology and nature. The people have been beaten by war, government is a thing of the past all that remains are factions that take care of their own. Many factions exist most keep to themselves, while others seek to gain power. Anyone who wants a chance to survive joins up and abides by the faction laws or lives in constant terror.
The world runs on x9 energy, when the Great Wave hit it changed the world forever. Everything in the world was infused with a radiation like energy. Some things were affected more than others, inanimate objects sprang to life, living creatures morphed into… something else. The humans affected most by the wave began to glow with a dull light, and gained the ability to control the x9 in themselves using it to create, heal or destroy. Others less affected were able to learn to harness the energy giving them superhuman abilities.
Seven hundred years have past since the Great Wave changed the world. Food scarce, x9 energy is extremely valuable, and has become the currency of the world. Technology no longer has enough power to work, only people with x9 can continue to use their devices. People have realized that if they break down objects using a kind of fusion they can extract the x9 out of the object. As a result, the area near large populations have barren wastelands, where everything in sight has been processed into x9. Since metal holds almost no x9, abandoned machines are everywhere. Where once full scale war was fought, now is a littered field of abandoned war-machines. Most of the technology will still work if it can be supplied with power, but very few people have the resources, most are struggling just to live.
